"First Day of School"

Soon you will receive (by mail) a copy of the book, The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down, by Anne Fadiman.  "The First Day of School" on September 2, will be devoted to discussions and activities related to understanding the concepts presented by this book.  It is going to be very exciting, and Anne Fadiman, the author, will be joining us for part of the day.

Please read the book by September 2, so you can join in the discussions in a meaningful way.  In addition to being able to discuss the concepts in the book, you may wish to reflect on your own cultural background and what impact this might have on your ideas about health, illness, and healthcare encounters.  Please be sure to bring the book with you that day. 

Anne Fadiman will be available at 4:30 to meet you individually and sign your copy of her book if you wish.
