MD Candidates
1) Selecting a host:

Select a host from the list below.  Make sure that potential your host is available

by checking this calendar.  If their name is listed on the night that you need,

it means they are unavailable for that day.  Not to worry, however, there

are other students who are just as eager to host you!

2) Contacting your host:

Email your host with the following information with "HOST NEEDED" in the

subject headline (so we can set up email filters to catch your requests):

     a) Cell phone number

     b) Night that you will be needing a host

3) Difficulty finding a host:

The requests for hosts is very high, so we recommend emailing 3 hosts

simultaneously (in the same email) so that your chances of finding an

available host are higher.  If you still have trouble finding a host, please feel

free to contact the hosting leadership team (see below), and they will find someone for you.

Finally, after a student has agreed to host you, please let the other contacted students

know that you've found a host so that they can remain available for other interviewees. 

MD/PhD Candidates

Males should contact Nick Theodosakis (nicholas.theodosakis@yale.edu) and

females should contact Eleanor Thomas (eleanor.thomas@yale.edu)who will 

find a host for you.  Do not worry about selecting a host from the list belowas Nick

and Eleanor will provide you with the name of your host.

FAQ:

Will my student host be able to pick me up from the train station or airport?

Probably not.  All of the hosts are first year medical students, and our schedules are often filled

with class and extracurriculars, making it hard to zip on over to the train station or airport. 

However, there are plenty of options for getting to the medical school including taxis, buses and trains. 

If you have questions about public transportation, the admissions office can help you.

How long can I stay with my student host?

Generally, a host is available for you to stay with the night before your interview.  If you will be staying

in New Haven a second evening, it is up to the discretion of your host whether or not they will be available to host. 

So, if you need to stay an extra night, you need to check with your host to see if they are available at least one week

in advance of your arrival.  But please keep in mind that hosting takes time away from our other commitments,

so if you can find other arrangements, we certainly appreciate it!

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring your own toiletries.  This includes (but is not limited to) shampoo,

conditioner, make-up, deodorant, etc.  You should also bring a towel.  Many of us live in the dorms,

so we do not have a large supply of extra towels lying around for guests to use. 

If for some reason you cannot bring one of these items, you need to let your host know and see if they

have extra items to spare.  Your host will provide you with a sleeping bag or couch or cot, and may

also have a hairdryer and iron that you can use.  However, when in doubt about what to bring, it is always

better to ask. : )
