Each year in August, when the summer is winding down and it's almost time to sneak inside for more lectures, a group of rising second-year medical students take ~50 incoming first-year medical students up to the northwest corner of Connecticut for four incredible days of hiking, camping and bonding with classmates and new friends on a nice stretch of the Appalachian Trail. We're easy-going and we love getting out into the woods, whether it's with people who are going on their first hiking trip or people who have hiked the entire AT and then some.
