This website is designed to give you updated information about Second Look Weekend, which will be held Thursday and Friday, April 23-24, with additional post-Second Look Weekend activities planned for Saturday, April 25.
Activities on Thursday, April 23 include a Welcome BBQ, afternoon tours of Yale University and New Haven, an opportunity for a one-on-one meeting with our Director of Financial Aid, a social gathering for MD/PhD students, an informative presentation about the Yale Curriculum and the "Yale System", a multi-media Student Showcase in Harkness Auditorium, group dinners in some of New Haven's celebrated restaurants, and an evening "Club Pre-Med" party in Marigolds.
A Welcome Breakfast opens a terrific all-day program on Friday, April 24. After breakfast, there will be two informative panel discussions. The first panel will be with Deans, Directors and Department Chairs. The second panel will be with graduating students and will include lunch. After lunch, you will have an opportunity to meet personally with several Yale School of Medicine faculty members in our unique "Speed Meeting" program in the Historical Library.
Next on the agenda is a Student Activities Fair, where representatives from several student organizations, such as HAVEN Free Clinic, the Surgical Interest Group, Yale Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Society, Women's Health Interest Group, Student National Medical Association, Boricua Latino Health, Funny Bones at Yale, and other groups will inform you of their mission – and probably try to recruit you! After the Activities Fair, you will have an opportunity to reconnect with your interviewers at a reception sponsored by the Admissions Committee.
Following the reception, there are dinners sponsored by several student interest groups. Later that evening some current students will be hosting social events at their homes where you can relax and enjoy camaraderiewith your future classmates. Continuing on Saturday, there will be a brunch sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Continue to check the schedule over the coming weeks. Information about these and other activities will be updated regularly. If you are interested, please plan your travel accordingly, perhaps staying overnight onFriday.
We hope you will be able to attend Second Look Weekend, where you will have a chance to learn more about the School, mingle with students and faculty, and meet many of your future classmates.
