This website is designed to give you information about Second Look Weekend, which will be held April 19-21, 2012.
Activities on Thursday, April 19 begin with check-in at 9:00 and also include a Welcome BBQ, tours of Yale University, Yale-New Haven Hospital and New Haven, an opportunity for a one-on-one meeting with our Director of Financial Aid, a social gathering for MD/PhD students,an opportunity to meet personally with several Yale School of Medicine faculty members in our unique "Speed Meeting" program in the Medical Library, group dinners in some of New Haven's celebrated restaurants, and an evening "Club Pre-Med" party at GPSCY (Graduate-Professional Student Center at Yale).
"Breakfast with the Dean" opens a terrific all-day program on Friday, April 20. After breakfast, there will an informative panel discussion with Deans, Directors and Department Chairs. After lunch, you will have an opportunity to meet personally with several Yale School of Medicine graduating students in our second "Speed Meeting" program in the Medical Library.
Next on the agenda is a Student Activity Fair, where representatives from several student organizations, such as HAVEN Free Clinic, the Surgical Interest Group, Yale Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Society, Women's Health Interest Group, Student National Medical Association, Latino Medical Student Association, Funny Bones at Yale, and other groups will inform you of their mission – and probably try to recruit you! After the Activity Fair, you will have an opportunity to reconnect with your interviewers at a reception sponsored by the Admissions Committee. Click on "Life at Yale Med" below to get more information about some of the student groups you will meet.
Following the Admissions Committee reception on Friday, there will be dinners sponsored by several student interest groups. Later that evening some current students will be hosting social events at their homes, where you can relax and enjoy camaraderiewith your future classmates. On Saturday morning, there will be a brunch sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs held at Dr. Forrester Lee's house and all are welcome. Continue to check the schedule over the coming weeks. Information about these and other activities will be updated regularly. If you are interested, please plan your travel accordingly.
We hope you will be able to attend Second Look Weekend, where you will have a chance to learn more about the School, mingle with students and faculty, and meet many of your future classmates.
