WHIG: WOMEN’S HEALTH INTEREST GROUP

 

The Women’s Health Interest Group (WHIG) at Yale is a student group devoted to fostering the mentorship, education, empowerment, and advancement of women in medicine. WHIG is dedicated to promoting and organizing events for men and women in the medical community on topics relating to women’s health and women’s careers in medicine.  The organization is run by medical students in cooperation with the Yale Office for Women in Medicine.  WHIG works to facilitate networking related to women’s health education, research, clinical care, and activism.

WOMEN’S HEALTH INTEREST GROUP ACTIVITIES
Brown Bag Lunches:  A lunch series with female physicians and scientists focused on life and career choices for women in biomedicine
Women’s Health Journal Club:
  A discussion of current topics in women’s health led by expert faculty
Women Physician Mentorship Program:  A potential matching of first and second year medical students with female physicians in the Yale community based on personal and academic interests
Selected Speakers:  A forum with speakers addressing advances in women’s health research and topics related to women in medical careers
Faculty Dinners:  A dining opportunity centered on bringing together faculty, physicians, residents, researchers, and students
